Garden Update….Really!

WE HAVE SPINACH!!!!

I have harvested and thinned our first crop of spinach! So…if you are interested in having some delectable organic spinach, let me know. If you have been a garden volunteer, alittle or alot, the fruits of your labor await you. If you have not been a volunteer, then we simply ask for a small donation to P~C.O.C. to help keep the garden growing. (Spinach is really good for you, by the way, remember Popeye?)

Now, back to those 2×4′s that I mentioned in my previous blog.

I have learned a great deal these past 3 months by being in the garden. Not so much about gardening and plants, mostly about myself. Spirit is sneaky that way. When I am looking left, They slip something in on my right. And, before I know it, there is the inkling of a new insight or an awareness I did not have before.

Community Garden & Pepper Lewis

I know it has been a long time since I have written. Like everyone else, life has been extremely busy this past month or two. ….What month is this?

And while I have been busy, my life has not been without lessons from Spirit! Sometimes I think I have a learning impairment when it comes to listening to Spirit. It usually takes a couple of 2×4′s across the forehead for me to get a clue. I will speak about that it just a moment, so bear with me, this could take awhile.

This past weekend, 3 of us went to Sedona for the Summer Light Conference featuring Lee Carroll and Kryon. Being in the presence of Kryon was a very emotional experience for all of us. I could write a whole blog about the weekend…. maybe another time.

One of the other presenters at the conference was Pepper Lewis. She is a very animated and passionate channel for “Gaia” energy. She has been traveling the world for the past 15 years speaking for our Mother Earth. She loves what she is doing and it shows! She did 2 channeling sessions and a workshop. While, we did not arrive in time to see either channel, I did have the opportunity to speak with people who had. They were so impressed by her words and actions. It was unanimous among everyone I spoke to, that her voice changed and she appeared to be much older.

I also, was fortunate enough to speak to Pepper for awhile. She truly is very passionate about the messages she is delivering for Gaia. In these times of new energies and change, each of us has an opportunity to develop a more intimate and co-creative relationship with the Gaia Consciousness. We are moving toward an “Awakened Earth.”

Community Garden is Underway

The Community Garden is officially underway with the building of the compost bins. Carol Tyrrell and I got down and dirty(literally) and had a great time building them.

The eagles, ravens, and hawks all came to check out our work and to bless our project. We now have a beautiful drop-off point for any leaves, straw, manure, peat, newspapers, cardboard, and any other garden items.

Next- come the BEES!!

Soon, Pathways’ very own bee hive will be arriving. Think organic honey, gentle bee babies, and great pollinators. In order to make a happy home for our bees, there are certain preparations we need to make before they arrive.

Pathways Community Garden project

It is 3 degrees, the wind is blowing softly and a fresh blanket of snow covers the ground.

In the depths of winter, our thoughts turn to the return of daylight…smelling the earth as she thaws from her winter nap…bird song returning to the trees…seed catalogs coming in the mail and feeling the soil in our hands as we prepare to plant for new growth.

It’s the perfect time to talk about gardening; as Pathways begins planning her first Community Garden Project. With the help and direction of Carol Tyrell(Pathways beloved gardener) and Diane Brandt(my beloved gardener) the ground work, no pun intended, has begun. We will be using a gardening method called “lasagne gardening”.

“What is lasagne gardening?” you may ask. I know I did! Do you grow all the ingredients to make veggie lasagne? Well, you could. But, it refers to a layering method much like a raised bed garden, without the borders. It is started on top of the ground with a layer of newspapers and cardboard. Then layer upon layer of mulch, leaves, peat moss, etc. is added until you have this beautiful thick bed of rich healthy soil for your seeds.

We will be building these beds on the land behind us, where Dr. Lake’s office is. The initial plan is for 2-5′x14′ garden beds. This is an ambitious start. But, keeping our enthusiasm in check, this is a smaller plan than when we started. One step at a time. It will be totally organic, and heirloom seeds will be used when we can. Each step we take will be in reverence and deep respect for the land Spirits and for Gaia, herself. We want to make sure that They are pleased and in accord with what we are doing on their land. It is a collaborative effort between those of us involved and Spirit.

I’m So Excited!!!!!

I am sooo excited!  I have a blog! I have never had a blog and ,quite frankly, never dreamed I would ever have one. So….look out….you never know what I might be writing about!

This year is going to be full of changes and openings for us all. And Pathways will be no exception. We have come out of the gate running. As you can see, we have our new and improved website (thank you, Bob) and the books are filling up quickly for workshops and classes.

There is a project in the works that is very close to my heart that I will be telling you about very soon. And…it involves all who want to participate.

So come back. Check out my blog and see if you get as excited as I am.
